About Me

Hey my name’s Johnny Oliva and like most of you I am an actor. Which means I’ve been here before. Where you are now, searching for the best headshot photographer at a price that won’t make you homeless. Then when you finally find it, the question arises “how can I get photos that are going to get me the audition?”. Because that’s what it’s all about right? Getting the audition. “Just get me in the room” is what I say. But to do that we have to captivate the casting director with our headshot and to do that I believe it requires two things.

Preparation and Direction

A director is to an actor, what the guitar player is to the guitar. If the guitar isn’t tuned it won’t sound so great and if the guitar player doesn’t know how to play, well… you get the point right? So where do I land in all this? I’ve been an actor for about 6 years working in over 30 productions that range from theater (my heart) to low budget short films, indie feature films, to my most recent on-going television role in the Amazon Prime show, Gravesend. It took me years to finally call myself an actor and even more years to tackle being a director. My directorial debut being Facciamo Le Corna, a short film/proof of concept that will soon be turned into a feature film. I am not the best director or actor… I don’t know if anyone is. I’m still in class learning more, working out my creative muscles as I believe it’s a never ending journey of learning about yourself through the art of story telling. However, I am confident that with my direction, your preparation and the magic of the freshly made pasta we will make those real, captivating moments that will get you in the room. Which leads to the question everyone’s asking…

WHY THE PASTA?

Growing up in an Italian American household, I was raised with the belief to always offer my guests something good to eat. That breaking bread with someone was of high respect. But there’s more to it than just that. As an actor who’s been through his fair share of headshot sessions and experienced how dull and awkward they can be, the last thing I wanted was to become another brick on the wall. I wanted to not only give great shots but to create an experience, for both you and me. For me, life is too short to make it all about an exchange of money. Chopping it up with fellow artists, creating together, getting inspired by each other is all a form of payment in its own right. The pasta symbolizes all of that. So expect great music, lots of laughs and most importantly... some delicious, freshly made aglio e olio pasta.

From yours truly,

Johnny Oliva
